The French President, Emmanuel Macron, praised, on Tuesday in Riyadh, the efforts of the Kingdom of Morocco in the management of water resources.
"Morocco's achievement in the field of water highway projects has been a resounding success, as it managed to mobilize all technologies and tackle challenges in rural areas and cities," said President Macron in his speech at the 'One Water' summit, reaffirming the need for such an alliance.
In his intervention, the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, who represents His Majesty the King at the Summit, had indicated, in this regard, that the Kingdom has allocated over 14 billion dollars for the implementation of an ambitious national program aimed at ensuring access to drinking water and irrigation water, and this through a comprehensive and innovative approach allowing the Kingdom to ensure a strategic water reserve.
Thus, several main axes have been deployed, the first being the implementation of structuring projects linking water basins, notably through the establishment of a 'water highway' ensuring hydraulic connection between the North and the Center of the Kingdom, he affirmed, specifying that Morocco has succeeded in completing the first phase of this project by linking the Sebou and Bouregreg basins, with an average water transportation capacity of one million cubic meters per day.
