Every year on April 1st, the world celebrates April Fools' Day, a day where pranks and jokes are exchanged between individuals and their friends, or even between large companies and their audience.

The origin of April Fools' Day dates back to one of the most famous stories throughout history, and perhaps the most circulated one, which goes back to the year 1582. Pope Gregory XIII changed the New Year holiday to January 1st instead of its previous date, which was celebrated before, on April 1st.

However, some countries did not receive this news, and their inhabitants continued to celebrate the New Year on the old date, April 1st. This led others to mock them, hence the celebration of this day as April Fools' Day originated from here.

Another narrative behind the existence of April Fools' Day is related to the transition between seasons, specifically bidding farewell to winter and welcoming spring. Festivals and celebrations were held during this period.

One of the oldest of these celebrations was particularly observed by the Romans, where they engaged in games, pranks, and wore disguises, deceiving others on that day every year.

A third narrative exists regarding the origin of April Fools' Day. According to historians, on April 1st, 1789, following the French people's dethroning of their king, Louis XVI, the King of England, George III, spread a rumor that he would abdicate his throne.

The rumor reached many peasants, so they took to the streets celebrating their newfound freedom. However, soldiers were awaiting them, and upon their arrival, they were arrested and imprisoned.

There is a fourth narrative that connects April Fools' Day to an English town called Gotham in Nottinghamshire. In the 13th century, it was customary that any road the king traveled on became public property. One day, the people of this town heard that the king intended to travel through their main road, prompting them to devise a scheme to prevent him from doing so.

Another aspect researched by some scholars regarding the truth behind April Fools' Day suggests its origins trace back to the Middle Ages. During this period, the month of April was a time for the intercession of the insane and feeble-minded. They would be released at the beginning of the month, and the sane would pray for them. It was during this time that the celebration known as the Feast of All Fools emerged, akin to the famous Feast of All Saints.

However, there is another theory that suggests the celebration of April Fools' Day coincides with the Indian celebration of Holi, the Festival of Colors, which is observed on the night of April 1st. During this festival, members of the Hindu community engage in pranks and humorous situations.
