Telegram gets a new update that brings giant channels and special reactions
To celebrate its 11th anniversary, Telegram has rolled out a series of updates aimed at improving the user experience and providing new monetization options for creators. The new version v11.0.0 includes several features that enhance engagement and provide new monetization tools.
One notable update is the Star Reactions feature, which allows users to support their channels and favorite creators by sending Telegram Stars. Channel owners receive 100% of the stars sent, which can be converted to Toncoin cryptocurrency or used for sponsored ads. Users can also view a leaderboard of the best senders on posts containing Star Reactions, with the option to opt out for privacy. To activate this feature, go to Channel Settings, then Reactions, and enable the Paid Reactions option.
A new feature has also been added that allows creators to create unique invite links that allow users to join the channel for a monthly fee using Telegram Stars. This feature is ideal for providing exclusive content, early access to media, or live broadcasts for VIPs. To set up a paid link, go to Channel Settings, then to Channel Type, choose Manage Invitation Links to create a new link, and select “Request a monthly fee.”
The Paid Media feature has been expanded to include bots, including those that manage Telegram Business accounts. Channel owners can now monetize by posting paid images and videos, supporting automation and enabling sustainable services such as image creation and video upgrading.
Telegram seeks to provide benefits to content creators by charging a small commission when using stars to earn Toncoin rewards. Additionally, if these stars are reinvested in promoting channels through Telegram Ads, users get an additional 30% discount.
A new mode called “Super Channels” has also been introduced that allows channel admins to post messages as personal profiles or other channels, making the channel more interactive. To activate this feature, go to Channel Settings, then to Admins, and choose “Message Signature and View Author Profiles.”
Finally, iOS users can now open documents like .pdf, .xls, or .docx in separate tabs within the Telegram browser, making it easier to navigate between files and messages.
