Samsung offers an immersive gaming monitor that doesn't require 3D glasses
Samsung wanted to break all the molds and presented its latest innovation at Gamescom 2024: the Odyssey 3D gaming monitor. The most striking thing about it all? You will get a fully immersive 3D gaming experience without having to wear special glasses.
to a technology called Light Field Display (LFD), Odyssey 3D can create 3D images directly on the screen. Essentially, you use a lenticular lens in front of the board to create the illusion of depth. The lens splits the light at different angles, allowing each user's eye to see a slightly different image, creating a three-dimensional feel.
Of course, despite the advances, the 3D effect may not be as precise as with 3D glasses. The idea here is to avoid using an additional device, which is not cheap either, in order to be able to use its screen directly for your video games.
Two additional technologies have been added to all this:
- Eye tracking: The screen uses a camera to track your eye movements. This information is used to adjust the image in real time so that you can see the 3D image from the right angle.
- Display maps: It is responsible for adjusting the image at all times so that your depth perception is perfect.
But be careful because this screen does not only stand out for its 3D capabilities. It has a 4K resolution, a high refresh rate of 165 Hz and an ergonomic design so that you can play smoothly for hours.
It is available in two sizes: 27 and 37 inches and also includes a height adjustment support (HAS), tilt and swivel functions, FreeSync Premium Pro, a DisplayPort 1.4 port and two HDMI 2.1 ports.
In addition to the Odyssey 3D, Samsung has expanded its OLED gaming monitor lineup with new models such as the Odyssey OLED G95SD, G93SD, and G85SD.
